| Hello 2009!
If you were with us to see in the New Year, we hope you have recovered. If you were somewhere else we can only hope you had as much fun as we did. Santa was great to us (and many of our guests) and the snow was plentiful. Some of the reports had us receiving 50 centimetres of snow between Christmas Day and New Years. We didn’t get the tape measure out, but it sure felt like it as we were gliding down the slopes.
Your Periodic Update from “Powder Paradise”Goodbye Rat- Hello Ox!We hope you are some of the lucky ones that will be here for the peak of the season. Snowfall is consistent and the powder is great. Much like the recent holiday season, we will be in celebration mode. I can’t tell you any more about it, but we will be sure to let you know in our post-CNY newsletter. If you are here for the event, feel free to send us your favourite photos and we’ll publish them on our website (normal decency required). As always, if you are looking for a place for friends or yourself while you are in Niseko, be sure to contact Hayley Richards (hayley.richards@nisekoresortsgroup.com) about our chalets and any vacancies we might have.
Christmas CheerOut with the Old in with the NewNiseko Resorts Group staff hosted a New Year’s Eve party at the Chalets.
Celebrity InterviewThanks for dropping by Santa, how did you find us with all this snow?
Ho Ho Ho! That’s Rudolph and Blitzen’s job. They know where all the good little girls and boys are in the world – even if they are on holiday. They specialise in nice not naughty. We saw the lovely chalets from the air and decided to come down for a closer look.
And what are your impressions after your closer inspection?
They look great, especially with all the snow falling. With all the development over the last 12 months, I almost didn’t recognise it. Donner and Blitzen assured me it was the Chalets, and Dasher said there were some good little boys and girls staying there. I told Mrs. Claus about the place and she looked it up on the internet (www.nisekoresortsgroup.com). She’s bugging me to buy one now as she loves how much more fluffy and light the snow is. It’s always a pleasure visiting the Chalets at Country Resort as there are no chimney’s to go down. My knees just aren’t what they used to be. Inside it’s just so warm and cozy. Me and Mrs. Claus would be very comfortable and right at home here with all the snow. The high-speed internet connection could save me loads of time and effort for next year. We’re just on dial up there at the North Pole you know.
Thanks for your time Santa, you’d better be on your way you’ve got a busy night ahead of you…
You are correct. I’m off now, but be sure to save a chalet for me. Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas!
We wonder what Santa’s view of the area was on the big night. We sure wouldn’t trade it for this view of Youtei from the slopes.
We’ll be back next issue with another guest interview. Will it be you, [fname]?

“It feels like a little family down here. It’s so nice to share Christmas with everyone.” Brad, Malaysia
“To begin with we were worried about staying out here at Country Resort, but it turns out we’ve walked less here than if we had stayed in the village. We wouldn’t stay in the village again. The shuttle service has been great.” Patrick, Brisbane

| Happy Holidays!
Could it really be a month since our last update from Niseko? Our little community has been a hive of activity over the last month and we’d like to share a few of the high points. We are skiing almost every day (outside business hours of course) and Christmas and New Year are upon us.
Your Monthly Update from “Powder Paradise”Goodbye Builders – Hello Guests!
“We’re Here to Help…”Last newsletter we announced our concierge service would begin for owners and their guests on December 1. From that first moment, the serv
Mountain ConditionsCelebrity InterviewWe’ve had some great guests so far this year. Each month, we’d like to feature a few words from one of our guests. This month, we are pleased to hear from Sarah Headifen, a Director of www.SkiTraveller.co.nz in Auckland, New Zealand. Sarah has skied all around the world and came to stay with us at The Chalets during her first Japan tour.
How does Niseko compare to other Japanese ski areas that you’ve visited on this trip?
Niseko is huge and continually expanding. This is especially important because of the amount of competition in the region. If you can take on that competition and still be expanding at the rate Niseko is, you’ve got to be doing something right!
What about the potential for growth of Niseko?
It’s terrifically placed, especially when compared to other Japanese resorts. We’ve noticed a definite slowdown in development fo other Japanese resorts exacerbated by the recent economic crisis (note: she really did say exacerbated, we had to look it up). Niseko seems to have bucked this trend, or at least be handling it well.
And what about the Chalets at Country Resort?
The chalets are well placed, even when facing all this competition. New developments are springing up everywhere. It has a targeted, niche market for its services. It’s in a quiet, private part of town away from all the hectic development, yet close enough to be easily accessed throught the private, shuttle bus.
Finally, will you be back to visit?
Definitely, you can count on it. We look forward to seeing The Chalets when Phase 3 has finished.
As you read this, the moving trucks are here with furniture for the latest chalets to be complete. We should have the furniture in before the New Year and then we are only waiting for the proper innkeepers licences to be granted by the local authorities. When we have the licences, the chalets will be straight into the rental pool (guests are waiting).
We’ll be back next month with another guest interview. Will it be you, [fname]?

| Welcome!
It’s official, there is snow on the ground at Country Resort. With that in mind, we thought it was time to update you on a few of the goings on in our community.
Update from “Powder Paradise”Construction Continues
Also, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who participated in our recent survey. The feedback has been extremely helpful as we move into the new season and the comments have been very complimentary. There are still a few folks that have not responded. If you wish your opinions to be heard, you can still fill out the survey. It takes only 4 minutes and can be accessed through the previous email. If you have accidentally deleted the email or feel you didn’t receive it, feel free to email me and I will send you a fresh link. Summer’s gone…Let it snow! That’s right, Annupuri, Higashiyama and Grand Hirafu/Hanazono open to the public on the 22nd of November for the first runs of the season. With the snow coming one week earlier than last year, the whole town is gearing up for a great winter. If you are thinking of a last minute escape, call or email Hayley Richards (hayley.richards@nisekoresortsgroup.com) and she will be sure that your chalet is ready for you and your guests. Just think, you could be the first down the mountain for the year. In the spirit of Snow Fever, we want you to send us your pictures of the first skiing and boarding of the year. We are going to collate them on our blog, www.nisekoresortsgroup.com/blog and have you vote for your favourite shots. The earlier you add the photos, the better your chance to win. See the blog for details. Occupancy UpdateWe are experiencing our highest level of inquiries from potential guests. It seems like everyone is realising what you already know, Niseko is the place to be for winter sports. We do still have vacancies across all the months however and we’d love your help. If you know of anyone that wants to come to Niseko, all you need to do is tell them to email Hayley (hayley.richards@nisekoresortsgroup.com) and use your name in the process. They will qualify for special rates and all care will be taken to put them in your chalet for their stay. Service AnnouncementBeing in Niseko can sometimes be a confusing thing. Once you’ve been there a few times, it’s easy to find your way around, but it still nice to have an “insider” to talk to. We now have that covered. Starting 1 December, owners at Country Resort and their guests will have the use of a concierge service that operates 7 days a week. They are there to make sure you enjoy your holiday as much as possible; whether it is recommending the best onsen for the post-ski soak or getting you a table at the restaurant in Hirafu you heard about on the slopes, they are your first call. A crucial part of their job is to introduce themselves to the owners and guests on arrival, but we can give you a sneak preview. The team consists of Anna Newland (anna.newland@nisekoresortsgroup.com) and Alex Rowe (alex.rowe@nisekoresortsgroup.com). We will go futher into their background in the next newsletter and are extremely excited to see them in Niseko. If you have any special requests on your upcoming trip to Niseko, feel free to contact them pre-arrival. They can organize whatever you need and you can focus on the fun. Niseko Resorts Group News
