Niseko Country Resort Rocks!

Mt Yotei from our Window in Country Resort

Well, it has been 2 years since we last enjoyed our home in the snow and wow has it blossomed.  We have new chalets, new neighbors, a new private kitchen/kids club, new concierge team, and tons of new powder.  I didn’t expect this much snow so soon but we are not complaining!  We fell in love with Country Resort when there was nothing here and now that we have a community, it rocks.  We have made new friends during the Christmas and New Years parties we hosted at the private kitchen.

Everyone on the team has been fantastic.  Geoffrey has made the wonderful dinners a reality with the help of Guy and the team.  Stuart, Ben, the always smiling Kana, and the team made a fantastic ice bar that was huge hit.  Our English roses Helen, Philippa, and Katie made sure the glasses were full and the spirits high.  The highlight of the night was Santa’s appearance (Guy) with his trusty Rudolph (Kana) and Christmas tree (Katie) in tow.  Good times had by all…

2010: Year of the Powder?

December 28th, 2009

December 2009

Volume 2, number 3

2 More sleeps until 2010!

We’re having so much fun with all the guests here at The Chalets at Country Resort that it almost makes us wish the year wouldn’t end. But we looked at the forecast and it said two things - more snow and more good times on the way.

Update from “Powder Paradise”

Santa proves guests not all naughty

As Christmas Eve drew to a close there were some worried guests at The Chalets. It seems they were a little worried as to whether Santa could find them under so much snow.

Our Resort Manager, Geoffrey Deschamps, reassured worried faithful that Santa would indeed appear again.  “We’ve resubmitted the GPS coordinates to the North Pole and updated our website (http://nisekocountryresort.com/information/how-to-find-us.html) to make sure everyone knows how to get to The Chalets… and Santa can find just about anywhere that has good kids.”

As always, Geoffrey was right and we were able to get a few minutes with Santa to share in the joy of the season.  He mentioned that he planned to come back for a post-work ski on Boxing Day.  Despite the Resort being 100% occupied, Geoffrey said that we would find a way to accommodate him if he needed a place to rest.

Concierge Corner

Last month’s tips from our ever resourceful concierge team received the most comments of any feature we’ve run (better than last year’s interview with Santa). They’re back this month with more tips to make your holiday a great one.

1.  Get going with the leg exercises like squats and lunges now. With the snow falling like it has been, people are maximising their hours on the mountain. We’ve seen some pretty sore people on Day 2. (you can check out our special feature on this in Issue 1 on our blog - http://www.blogs.nisekoresortsgroup.com/).

2.  If you’re bringing your own skis and board, it’s worth getting it tuned, but ask for the edges not to be too sharp. Chances are you’ve not been on the slopes for a while and it’ll take a couple of days to find your feet again and having sharp, extra responsive edges can actually do more harm than good. After you’ve warmed up, one of the stores here can give your edges the once over to sharpen them up.

3.  The restaurant scene is heating up in the Village with a number of new outlets joining our old favourites. Take some time to talk to us about what you like and want to experience while you are here so we can point you in the right direction.  We even had a private sushi chef in one of the chalets last week. It was delicious and a great experience for everyone.  We love food almost as much as we love powder so challenge us to find something unique to your taste buds.

The Private Kitchen, our on-site restaurant, will be catering a New Year’s Eve dinner and has special menus for many days upcoming.  For more information on that, contact the concierge team or stop in.

Until next time.

Looking for a winter break?

We’ve had a record December for bookings and have a good flow for the rest of the year. If you are thinking of a winter break, contact (steve.reck@nisekoresortsgroup.com) immediately for to see if there is availability.  There are some open spots in January and we will offer a great deal for newsletter readers to take advantage of.  We want everyone to feel the rush of thrashing through the powder so contact him soon so you don’t miss out.

Season Forecast - Snow, Snow and Snow

The forecast for January is much the same as December, vast amounts of beautiful powder for us to appreciate on the Mountain. It’s an exciting time to be in Niseko and we can’t wait to share it with you.  If you’ve already been here this year, we hope that you are relishing the memories. If you are coming later in this season, we hope you are enjoying the feeling of anticipation as you read the snow reports.  Either way, we want you to share the excitement we have for our little slice of heaven.  We didn’t give Niseko the nickname of Powder Paradise, but we’re doing everything we can to make sure the name continues.

Our aim this year is to have even more fun than we did last year and we hope that you share that vision. If there is anything we can do to help, make sure you ask us!

We look forward to seeing you here!

Ready for the powder?

November 26th, 2009

It’s official, the lifts are open!

This past weekend was the one we’ve been waiting for since April.  With typical Japanese efficiency, the lifts were opened and the snow was there. Our staff got out early for some turns and celebrated the fact that we live in a powder mecca.

Update from “Powder Paradise”

Growth Continues

The long awaited cafe, The Private Kitchen is nearing completion. We’re releasing an early picture here complete with the Gazebo to get you thinking about the possibilities.

Our other 3 chalets are progressing nicely and our concierge team has been on the ground now for 3 weeks getting things ready for the record number of visitors expected already booked at The Chalets this season. They are excited to begin helping guests really get the most out of their stay here in Powder Paradise.

Concierge Corner

Our team on the ground prides themselves on knowing how to have fun and they want you to benefit from that experience.  We asked them to start out with their Top 5 Tips for Niseko Visitors.  Here’s what they came up with.

1. Scarves are essential. It gets cold here and you really want to keep the wind off your neck.

2. If you have high-cuff shoes, bring them on your trip. Many of the pathways will have snow that is ankle deep or higher.

3. Bring some of your favourite music for your chalet. You will not believe how quiet (peaceful) it is here. There is almost no ambient sound once the river freezes.

4. Leave your shyness about nudity at home. Almost all the onsens (at least the ones we’d like to send you to) have a “birthday suit” only policy. Not to worry, there are separate areas for men and women.

5. Bring some reading material.  Sitting back, watching the snowfall and reading a book or magazine can be just what your aching muscles need after hitting the powder on consecutive days.

The Bonus Tip - Bring your favourite Lip Balm and Moisturizer.  You can buy those things here, but having one you are used to can really help. The low humidity and extreme cold can really affect people who are not used to it. If you happen to forget yours, talk to us and we’ll get you sorted out.

Until next time.

Looking for a holiday?

We have had a record breaking pre-season for bookings and anticipate that most weeks will be close to sold out.  Already the Christmas to New Year and Lunar New Year times are fully booked out (it’s a good thing we’re building more).  If you haven’t reserved your holiday with us, or you want to let your friends share in the good times to be had, contact Steve Reck at steve.reck@nisekoresortsgroup.com quickly to check availability.  We want everyone to feel the rush of thrashing through the powder so contact him soon so you don’t miss out.

Season Forecast - Snow, Snow and Snow

We haven’t heard anyone who isn’t predicting big snow for the winter season and we couldn’t be happier. Our aim this year is to have even more fun than we did last year and we hope that you share that vision. If there is anything we can do to help, make sure you ask us!

We look forward to seeing you here!

Niseko, Japan, Receives Up To 60cm–Check Out Photos

By jstifter - November 5, 2009 - 14:08

picture-22

November 4, 2009 - Lifts haven’t even opened in Niseko, but local powderhounds are lapping up the waist high powder they found yesterday after two days and nights of heavy snowfall. This storm has accumulated 30-40 cm in the village and reports of 60cm up high, with more of the big light flakes still falling.

picture-3

Snowfalls have been early and plentiful this season in Niseko, with strong storms coming in from the Siberian Peninsula, gathering moisture across the Sea of Japan and then hitting the peaks of the Niseko region on the northern island of Hokkaido.  This ongoing weather pattern is why Niseko receives up to 16 metres of snow each season, and how it became referred to as the second snowiest resort on the planet by Forbes Traveler.

Expectations are high for a strong early season and lifts will open on November 20

Welcome!

It’s official, there’s snow on Mt. Youtei (hatsu yuki = first snow) and that can only mean one thing - the winter season is on the way. While the official season doesn’t start until next month, our thougths are racing in anticipaton of all the good times to be had here at The Chalets at Country Resort.

Update from “Powder Paradise”

We’re Growing in Many Ways

This fall has once again seen activity bubble up in our part of Country Resort.  There are 3 new chalets under construction as well as our long awaited restaurant.  The team from Niseko RDC have been out in force to help us complete the project on time and word is that things are flowing smoothly.

We’ve also completed hiring our expanded ground staff for the year. With all the new chalets from last year and this year, we know that we have to expand our service team to deliver the personal service that you have come to expect.  This year we’ve gone with the credo of “many hands make light the work” and have doubled our staffing.  You’ll meet most of them in the next edition of this newsletter and they look forward to meeting you on your next visit to “Powder Paradise”.

Summer’s over…bring on the snow

We had a great summer here at The Chalets.  For those of you who didn’t join us, you missed out on the fun.  Along with landscaping our little village, we found some great spots to fish, cycled like crazy on the many different nearby roads and played golf on the courses that seem like they are in our backyard.  Even though we were doing some construction, we managed a record summer for guests to The Chalets and certainly proved that Niseko is an “all seasons” place.  That being said, we’re ready for a powder fix.  We experienced above average rainfall this summer and speculation is rife that it will lead to even better snow this season.  Can that be true? You’ll have to be here to find out.  As always, you can leave your comments on our blog at www.nisekoresortsgroup.com/blog and tell the world what a great time you had while you were here.

Our new face to the World

Just about a month ago, we released our new website to the world. For those of you who haven’t seen it, www.nisekocountryresort.com, is getting rave reviews.  We’ve more than doubled the traffic from last year to the site and that is resulting in a large increase in booking opportunities. Our Chalets are filling up fast and the major holiday weeks are almost sold out. If you are thinking about a holiday in the luxury of our Chalets and haven’t reserved yet, do not hesitate to contact Steve at steve.reck@nisekoresortsgroup.com to see if your favourite dates are still available.

“I’ve never been so sore…”

We all want to be our best this season when we arrive in Niseko and head out to the Mountain that first time. To help us get the most of it, we’ve asked a friend of the group, Katie Jackson from Jackson Hole’s Training to Be Balanced, to give us some tips on exercises we could be doing now to make sure we are prepared for the powder.  You can check her website out at www.t2bb.com.

The exercises below focus on core, glute and hamstring activation and single leg movements for better ankle knee and hip alignment which is key for all winter sports.

Single Leg Quick Squat

1. Stand in an athletic stance

2. Swing leg behind body

3. Squat up/down at a moderate speed being careful to keep good hip/knee alignment

**Avoid major inward knee bend & shift weight to heel for added balance

Mountain Climbers

Get into push up position with back and hips straight & parallel w the floor, hands positioned slightly outside of your shoulders. Keep one leg straight, with the other bent and near your chest.

Quickly drive bent knee back while bringing straight leg up to chest. Alternate for 1 minute.

24’s (why 24’s - you’ll find out soon enough)

1. Standing squats. Stand with your feet a little more than shoulder width apart. Hands are behind head. Push off heels and squat quickly 24 times.

2. Alternating forward lunges. Quickly lunge forward & down, keeping your back straight. Repeat 24 times.

3. Scissors lunge jump. Lunge jump 24 times alternating legs forward. Switch feet in the air.

4. Jump Squats. Repeat exercise #1, adding a jump to each squat 24 times.

When you’ve caught your breath, continue reading…

There is a rumor that we will be testing everyone on arrival. It could be worth some drinks in the bar so get in there and get started.

Season Forecast - Snow, Snow and Snow

We think that the 2009/2010 season will be one of the best ever. Our aim is to help more guests have more fun ever. Your holiday is our business so if we can help in any way, do not hesitate to contact us. You might be surprised what our ground staff can pull off!  If you have friends who want to come join you on a great holiday or who you think would enjoy the area, be sure to have them email Steve on steve.reck@nisekoresortsgroup.com and we will make sure they get our absolute best price - unless you want us to charge them more…

We look forward to seeing you here!

Spring has sprung!

This week marks the first week of Spring in Niseko. While the rates for most things have dropped, there are many more days of sunshine. We look forward to the bluebird days ahead.

Your Periodic Update from “Powder Paradise”

Goodbye Winter…

Annupuri BluebirdWe are coming to the end of our first winter season in Niseko with guests enjoying the light, dry snow by day and the warm, peaceful nights in their comfortable Chalets. We’ve had a busy season. We almost doubled our number of Chalets for rent and are anticipating a busy Summer building season. There will be more than just building happening this summer. We have had a large number of inquiries about the summer season. As a fours season resort destination, there is plenty to do in Niseko in the summer. Hokkaido itself is the most popular tourist destination for Japanese. They love the outdoor activities (there are 152 golf courses in Hokkaido, you have to go to Scotland to find more per capita) and they really love the weather. There are very few places in Asia that you would describe as “non-humid,” Niseko is one of them providing a perfect backdrop for summer holidays. If you haven’t scheduled some time to check out what Niseko has to offer, be sure to contact Hayley (hayley.richards@nisekoresortsgroup.com) now to see when we have availability.

The Cure for Spring Fever? Plenty of Sunshine and Snow

Guests in Spring
As we near the beginning of April, the conditions on the Mountain are beginning to set in with milder temperatures and bluebird days abundant. While the base has begun its yearly creep down, there has still been some great bursts of snow. March 15th was one such day with a fresh dump of 40 centimetres (see photo). This winter season has provided more of a variety of snow conditions. The variable conditions have provoked comments from our guests (and locals) that there was far more visibility than usual and more days of sunshine. All in all, there has been something for everyone this year and we anticipate that we will still be skiing into May.
The snowfall breakdown for the year is as follows:
November 109 cm
December 327 cm
January 334 cm
February 277 cm
As you can see, we are still in the running to hit the Niseko average of 14 meters of snow through April. Let’s just say that we are all keeping our fingers crossed here to hit the mark!
Flying Over the Shiribetsu
Can you guess where the above picture was taken? While the answer will be published in the next issue, you can go to our blog at http://www.blogs.nisekoresortsgroup.com and give us your best guess now. The first to answer correctly will win a prize!

The Concierge Team’s Top 3 Onsens

Last issue we covered one of our favourite restaurants. This issue it’s the beloved apres ski ritual of the Onsen. Here are the team’s 3 favourite.
Grand Hotel Annupuri OnsenThe Grand Hotel Annupuri - This mixed onsen offers a therapeutic outdoor pool setting overlooking the tranquil, snow-covered surrounds. It’s particularly enjoyable after a hard day of skiing with friends at the nearby slopes of Annupuri and Moiwa. The onsen complex also has 2 men’s indoor pools and 5 pools for women to choose from (including a private outdoor pool for the ladies).
Yuki Chichibu - Located near Chisen Annupuri skifields (about a 30 minute drive from The Chalets at Country Resort) Yuki Chichibu is an authentic onsen experience. Entirely segregated, it boasts serene pools overlooking the snow laden valley. The women’s pools consist of 5 outdoor pools of varying temperatures and compositions including the much coveted mud bath said to wind back 1 year of your dermal layer. The men’s facilities are the same as the women’s, but sadly no mud bath. Visitation of this onsen is particularly enjoyable during snowfall as all of the pools are completely outdoors.
Hirafutei - A local treasure for those seeking refuge from a hard day of skiing Hirafu. Overlooking the family slope, guests enjoy an indoor onsen whilst watching friends and children slog it out on the slopes. A great local choice although it does get quite crowded during peak season.

The Sapporo Snow and Ice Festival

Yuki Matsuri (the Sapporo Snow and Ice Festival) was held between February 5th and the 11th this year. DuriSapporo Snow & Ice Festivalng the festival, hundreds of snow and ice sculptures are created in three areas of Sapporo - Odori Koen, Satorando/Satoland and Susukino. They are lit up by a multitude of lights and accompanied by traditional shows and songs as well as contemporary events such as ski and snowboard jumping competitions. The magnitude of the festival is aided by the fact that the Japanese military builds most of the sculptures, some of which reach the height of 20 meters. So when you are planning your next winter visit to Niseko, be sure to think about squeezing in a trip to the festival. We highly recommend it for kids and adults alike. As always, you can contact Hayley (hayley.richards@nisekoresortsgroup.com) for any vacancies we might have during that time.

Powder Pig - Niseko Mascot
On a final note, we’d like to say goodbye to our fantastic concierge team of Anna and Alex. We’ve had nothing but great feedback on their services throughout the winter. As the pair took the “Powder Pig” (Niseko’s Mascot) for a walk, we asked them for a final comment for this issue and here is what they had to say…
“We’ve had an amazing season and really look forward (hopefully) to returning to The Chalets at the end of the year for another amazing season of powder. We are complete snow snobs so it will be hard to ski anywhere else! We look forward to seeing you again.”

Niseko hits 4 metre base mark!

February 25th, 2009

Late February saw Niseko Annupuri’s base at the top of the mountain smash the four metre mark, currently standing at 4.3 metres, with the base at the bottom reaching a substantial two metres. This places Annupuri as one of the snowiest resorts in the world at present, which is especially impressive considering the large storms that have been hitting Europe recently. Niseko Village and Grand Hirafu are not far behind with base snow at the top of the mountain reaching 3.8 metres and 3.6 metre’s respectively. Needless to say, the skiing has been epic this season, with an unusually high amount of bluebird days which usually have followed massive dumps of snow. The varied weather has provided snow-lovers with a variety of conditions. Experts and intermediate’s have been able to perfect their technique on the varied terrain and snow, while beginners have faced all the conditions on offer around the world in one resort, learning on both powdery and packed snow. Niseko definitely does have everything on offer.

Your Periodic Update from “Powder Paradise”

Hello Year of the Ox!

Sunrise on YouteiWe bid farewell to the Year of the Rat and embraced the Year of the Ox. The Ox is the second sign of the Chinese zodiac.  Like its predecessor and complement, the Rat, the Ox signifies new beginnings. With our most recent development phase (IIIa) completed prior to the Chinese New Year, guests could experience some new beginnings of their own.

It was a busy time in Hirafu, with a heavy influx of guests arriving throughout the period. As we mentioned in our last newsletter we were at 100% occupancy for the week.  This was in stark contrast to Hirafu village where reports were coming in that they were down 20% on the previous year’s occupancy numbers.  Combine that with the global economic downturn we read about everyday in the newspapers and we are pretty proud of our achievement.

The Chalets private shuttle service has been running every 15 minutes during this busy period in order to cope with the increased numbers of more than enthusiastic skiers and boarders. With the Lunar New Year falling on the same week as Australia Day (always a popular day in the pubs) it was particularly challenging.  The ground staff were more than prepared (I thThe Gondolaink there is some Aussie pride in there) and it led Dexter, a guest during this period, to comment on the service saying “the logistics to provide us with transport were great.”

As always, if you are looking for a place for friends or yourself while you are in Niseko, be sure to contact Hayley Richards (hayley.richards@nisekoresortsgroup.com) about our chalets and any vacancies we might have.

2nd Snowiest Resort last year - Look Out Number 1 This Year

The Gondola
We know that Forbes Traveller rated Niseko the “2nd Snowiest Resort in the World” last year.  This year Niseko is making its case for Number 1.  As an example, Thursday the 15th of January will be remembered as the mammoth dump day. Talk around town indicated that it was one of the best dumps of fresh powder in the last 5 years. Over 50cm of actual snow was recorded falling in one day, with a further 20-30cm falling the following day. We saw the top of the mountain crack the 3 meter base mark!

Needless to say, fresh tracks were found everywhere all day. The weather has been varied in 2009, with a mix of heavy snowfall and bluebird days providing snow-lovers with a range of conditions. The clear days have supplied ample opportunity for great photo’s, with the magnificent Mt Yotei changing color with the rising and setting sun. Indeed, many treks to the summit have resulted causing on lookers to say that it resembles “a trail of ants weaving their way up to the peak.”

Bluebird

Restaurant Review - Kamimura

This issue we asked the ground staff to recommend a favorite dining spot while in Niseko.  There was no hesitation to come up with a review of Kamimura (www.kamimura-niseko.com).  They did mention they would have to go back “one more time this week” to make sure that everything met their high standards. I think they were just angling for another great meal…

Kamimura WagyuFine dining in Hirafu village exists in the form of restaurant Kamimura offering a nine course degustation menu. Chef Yuichi Kamimura brings a fusion of Japanese seasonal ingredients and flavors enhanced by a classic French cooking technique. Kamimura-san cooked under famous chef Tetsuya Wakuda at what has been called one of the top five restaurants in the world Sydney’s Tetsuya’s. Dishes like grilled scallop with black truffle cream and roasted Wagyu with Niseko potato puree utilize the abundance of Hokkaido’s local products on offer. Accompanying the food are the matching wines Kamimura has carefully selected for his guests.  The wine list currently features the best of Italy, France, and Australia. If you need warming up or just a break from the slopes, Kamimura serves coffee to go with his almond and white chocolate cookies both eat-in and take-away. It’s not always easy to get in this fine establishment so be sure to ask our concierge team to get you a table today.

Hello 2009!

If you were with us to see in the New Year, we hope you have recovered. If you were somewhere else we can only hope you had as much fun as we did.  Santa was great to us (and many of our guests) and the snow was plentiful. Some of the reports had us receiving 50 centimetres of snow between Christmas Day and New Years. We didn’t get the tape measure out, but it sure felt like it as we were gliding down the slopes.

Goodbye Rat- Hello Ox!

The ChaletsAs you know, the Lunar New Year is fast approaching. When the clock moves past midnight on Sunday the 25th, we will moving into the Year of the Ox.  We’re not sure what that means for the burning issues of the day, but we do know what it means for The Chalets at Country Resort - 100% occupancy again!

We hope you are some of the lucky ones that will be here for the peak of the season. Snowfall is consistent and the powder is great.  Much like the recent holiday season, we will be in celebration mode.  I can’t tell you any more about it, but we will be sure to let you know in our post-CNY newsletter.  If you are here for the event, feel free to send us your favourite photos and we’ll publish them on our website (normal decency required).  As always, if you are looking for a place for friends or yourself while you are in Niseko, be sure to contact Hayley Richards (hayley.richards@nisekoresortsgroup.com) about our chalets and any vacancies we might have.

Christmas Cheer

Santa's VisitAs Christmas Eve dawned, there was a rumour on the mountain that St. Nick himself was in Niseko for some killer boarding before his big night.  True to form, our favourite man in the Red Suit made an appearance.  Those guests who were deemed to have been “good” were among the first to receive their gifts which ranged from Toboggans and Japanese games for the children to Japanese Royce chocolates for the adults. While Santa appeared to be his normal portly self on the Chirstmas Eve visit, he must have burned off a few calories in his adventurous night as he was caught on the slopes the next day looking a bit thin.  He assured us in an exclusive interview (see below) that he did indeed sample all the cakes and biscuits that were left out for him and he thanked everyone for their epicurean generousity.

Out with the Old in with the New

Niseko Resorts Group staff hosted a New Year’s Eve party at the Chalets.Party Guests We had a great turnout with more than 30 in attendance.  We ate and drank from both the local produce and some old international favorites (the French still make great Champagne). Anna, Hayley, Joel and Alex provided music, skiing and snowboarding movie screenings, good cheer and bad dancing for entertainment.  A few of our guests bowed to tradition and created their own fireworks display before the staff shuttled the party goers into town for the torch run and officially sanctioned, professionaly fireworks display on the Grand Hirafu slopes.

Celebrity Interview

Santa on the SlopesThis issue we were able to secure a Niseko exclusive with the Jolly Old Soul himself, Santa Claus.  While he didn’t stay with us, we were able to sit down for a quick snack and a glass of Hokkaido’s World Famous Milk before he set off on his journey. As you can see from the picture, he enjoyed our little village so much, he came back for a ski after finishing his big day.

Thanks for dropping by Santa, how did you find us with all this snow?

Ho Ho Ho! That’s Rudolph and Blitzen’s job. They know where all the good little girls and boys are in the world - even if they are on holiday. They specialise in nice not naughty. We saw the lovely chalets from the air and decided to come down for a closer look.

And what are your impressions after your closer inspection?

They look great, especially with all the snow falling.  With all the development over the last 12 months, I almost didn’t recognise it.  Donner and Blitzen assured me it was the Chalets, and Dasher said there were some good little boys and girls staying there. I told Mrs. Claus about the place and she looked it up on the internet (www.nisekoresortsgroup.com).  She’s bugging me to buy one now as she loves how much more fluffy and light the snow is.  It’s always a pleasure visiting the Chalets at Country Resort as there are no chimney’s to go down. My knees just aren’t what they used to be.  Inside it’s just so warm and cozy. Me and Mrs. Claus would be very comfortable and right at home here with all the snow.  The high-speed internet connection could save me loads of time and effort for next year. We’re just on dial up there at the North Pole you know.

Thanks for your time Santa, you’d better be on your way you’ve got a busy night ahead of you…

You are correct. I’m off now, but be sure to save a chalet for me. Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas!

Youtei from the slopes
We wonder what Santa’s view of the area was on the big night.  We sure wouldn’t trade it for this view of Youtei from the slopes.

We’ll be back next issue with another guest interview.  Will it be you, [fname]?

Mountain Conditions

We could talk all day about the snow. Sure it was a bit sporadic at the beginning of the seasonSnow Everywhere (that’s why it’s the beginning), but now it is in full swing.  We already mentioned the 50 centimetres between Christmas and New Year and it just keeps coming. Here’s what Olle, a recent guest at the Chalets from Sweden had to say. “We work in Norway on the ski slopes and the snow doesn’t compare to what we’ve been getting in Niseko. Definitely worth the trip!”
